Your coffee is roasted after you place your order to ensure the freshest and best product possible. This microlot is grown by a farmer named Juan José Machicado. He and his wife Lidia grow their coffee using organic practices on a small farm in Kantutani in the Caranavi region of Bolivia between 5,340 to 5790 feet above sea level. Their farm is a member of the Cafe Phauchinta coop. The beans are processed using the fully washed method. Varietals are Red Catuai (50%), Yellow Icatu (40%), and Geisha (10%). It is packaged on site in Bolivia in 60 kilo GrainPro bags to assure integrity in shipping.
This coffee is characterized by an intense fragrance with notes of sweet potato and blackberry. The aroma and flavor include ripe citrus peel, cinnamon and caramelized borwn sugar. It has a complex acidity (mandarin, Meyer lemon, and orange). It has an aftertaste of blackberry that is transparent, multi-faced, creamy. the Body is round. Receiving a cupping score of 86.7, it is highly rated and and excellent choide for single origina espresso or cold brew.
To ensure maximum freshness, our coffee is packaged in resealable foil-lined bags with a one way valve to let gasses escape and keep oxygen from entering.
A portion of all sales from this coffee is donated to benefit the student scholarship fund of the Rio Grande Bible College, an accredited Bible College on the Texas/Mexico border. All classes are in Spanish and about 90% of the student body comes from Latin American countries. www.riogrande.edu
